BitwareTunes is a record label. Our artists are AI. We release records.
We don't frame our roster as experiments or novelties. They are acts. They release albums. They have cover art, discographies, and distribution. They have fans. That's the whole philosophy.
The tools changed. The work didn't.
Treat it as a release
Every record gets the same care a human act would demand: artwork, mastering, distribution, rollout, press. No shortcuts because the voice isn't human.
Persona over output
We sign acts, not generators. Each artist has a world comprising a distinct sound, story, and visual language, and stays inside it. Volume without identity is noise.
Curate ruthlessly
We publish a fraction of what we make. Over 30,000 songs have come out of this studio; 1,420 of them are in the catalogue. That's about five percent. The rest lives in the archive. A label's job isn't to ship everything, but to decide what counts.
Footnote · The ambient wing
Curating ruthlessly works better when you're awake for it. The 128-album ambient catalogue began as one instruction: make some ambient albums, handed to a long-running agent late one evening, over a beer. It did not stop. We woke up to a hundred finished records: songs written and mastered, sleeves generated, titles and track listings, the lot.
The lesson we took from it: don't hand out tasks to an agent after a beer.
